Holiday Gift Guide for the Eco-Conscious
Giving a truly catered and thoughtful gift to someone is one of the best feelings! Racking your brain for ideas for said gift is not always as enjoyable. While holidays are a time of cheer and merriment, they can also be stressful and overwhelming. Especially when it comes to shopping. So, I have compiled a list of some awesome gift options that are all ethical and sustainable gift ideas that will cater to anyone in your life!
Reusable Cotton Rounds
Give the gift of never again having to make a drug store run because you are out of throw-away cotton rounds! Reusable cotton rounds are an amazing alternative and super easy to clean by popping them in the wash with your other towels!
Never again having to buy expensive razor head replacements? Now that is an awesome gift! With a safety razor, the only thing that needs replacing is the single blade, and the replacement blades are considerably cheaper than a disposable razor. There are a ton of options for safety razors out there.
I personally love and use the Oui The People Rose Gold Safety Razor. I have been using this razor for years now and after the initial learning curve, it gives a better shave with less irritation than any other razor I have used! This would be a great gift for anyone! Gift it to your husband or boyfriend with some lovely face shaving creams and oils! Or gift it to your wife or girlfriend as part of a self-care package.
Luxury Towels or Robe
A cozy, warm robe or a set of soft luxurious towels are a great, practical gift for anyone. I feel like a robe isn’t something that I would normally buy for myself but would love and use all the time if I got it as a gift! The robes from Made Trade are so soft and are made with sustainable materials.
Shampoo, body wash, and lotion bars are great self-care gifts that also help reduce the use of single-use plastic waste. If you are crafty, you could even DIY your own batch of beauty bars and make a self-care gift basket!
I am absolutely addicted to The Ultimate Body Bar by 100 Senses. There is a complete review of The Ultimate Body Bar on my blog as well as a $15 discount link here. I have not tried the Mama Stone lotion bar yet, but it is next on my list!
Beauty Subscription Box
There are so many different subscription boxes these days and there are some great clean, eco-beauty options on the market. They include cruelty-free or plant-based skincare and beauty products. A few years ago, I gifted a 3-month subscription of Petit Vour to a friend.
Buying skincare for someone else can be a little tricky (said by someone who has received so many well-intentioned, but highly fragranced and thus unusable beauty products). That is why I like this option of giving a subscription better – they can try out a variety of different beauty products and see what works for them.

Everyone needs a good pair of jeans in their life! Splurge on a pair of sustainably and ethically made jeans that will last your friend for years. A jean jacket is also a classic that so many would love to have in their closet, myself included!
I recently posted an article featuring 10 Ethical Denim Brands, definitely check it out for more denim gift inspo! The links above are from Outland Denim, a truly amazing brand with charitable roots and amazing style! You can use code POSITIVELY10 for a discount at checkout.
Fair Trade Certified Clothing
There are so many Fair Trade Certified (as well as so many ethical and sustainable fashion certifications) brands with great clothing options. The links above are from prAna and they offer both men’s and women’s clothing. This cozy, half-zip sweater would be such a great gift for this time of year and fluffy sweaters are always in style! prAna has great activewear as well!
Slippers are one of those things I wouldn’t think to get myself, but would absolutely love and wear all the time if I got them as a gift. In fact, the one pair of slippers I have were gifted to me for my birthday several years ago and I ADORE them. Made Trade has a wide variety of slipper wear for both men and women. I love how structured but still comfy looking these Kyrgie slippers look!
I will not stop raving about the Allbirds Wool Loungers! They are the most worn shoes in my closet. They are so effortless to wear as well as to clean. Just slip on and go then machine wash and air dry. They hold their shape after washing and are so comfortable!
Ethically Made Jewelry
Nothing is more romantic than a piece of jewelry to wear and cherish. I think jewelry makes a very special and personal gift as it is something that the person can wear and look at every day. ABLE has some great pieces at affordable price points. Their Huggie Hoops are so cute and classic. Another of my favorite places for minimal, dainty jewelry is Hannah Naomi.
You just can not go wrong with chocolate! This drinking chocolate mix would make an excellent stocking stuffer gift to open on Christmas morning. I remember when I was a kid, my Grandma would give me a gift bag full of chocolate bars. My parents probably weren’t too thrilled about it, but I was! Divine Chocolate USA is Fair Trade Certified and has vegan options as well.
Coffee and Tea
Is there a caffeine lover in your life? Buy them some beautiful, aromatic fair-trade coffee or tea. You could find a sampler pack to gift them or add the coffee or tea into a gift basket with other goodies.
Reusable Tea Bags or Steeping Tea Pot
Any avid tea drinker would love a set of reusable tea bags for their loose-leaf tea collection! A lovely teapot or infuser would also be a great gift that helps reduce unnecessary waste. They will be thinking of you whenever they are brewing a cup of tea. This Tea Set from Etsy is SO beautiful and how adorable are those reusable tea bags?? So cute!
If your friend is a coffee addict and into saving the planet, invest in a French press coffee maker for them. No need to waste or constantly repurchase unnecessary coffee filters anymore. Do they have a Keurig or use throw-away coffee pods? Gift them a reusable K-Cup filter.
A wine subscription would be such a cool gift to your wine drinking friend or significant other. They can try new and different wines. I am not a wine drinker but I want to be one 😉. I really want to try one of these subscriptions for myself!
Usual wine offers sustainably farmed, small-batch wine with no added sugar and has several different options available. Vinebox is a subscription wine tasting service. If someone you know loves trying a variety of different wines, this is the one for them!
Reusable To-Go Cup
A reusable, travel mug would be a great addition to coffee or tea gift package. There are so many options out there for reusable to-go cups. S’well and Yeti are my favorite mugs for hot beverages.
Eco-Friendly To-Go Lunch Kit
Help your friend decrease their use of plastic by setting them up with an awesome to-go lunch kit. The kit could include some bento boxes, reusable to-go cutlery, and a straw! All contained in an awesome lunch box.
Biodegradable Phone Case
The number of phones and phone cases we go through is kind of alarming! Gift your friend a cute, biodegradable phone case from Pela. They have a ton of color options and designs so you can personalize their case to their style. Incipio and Castify have also come out with eco-friendly options but are more limited on the types of phones they will fit. Pela offers a very wide range of phone cases for different phone brands.
Diffuser and Essential Oils
Most air fresheners and sprays are not only bad for the environment, but they can also be harmful to your health. Swap out those air fresheners and sprays for a diffuser and essential oils kit. Essential oils make great gifts because it is something you can expand on and gift more of in the future.
As with air fresheners and sprays, some candles can have a negative effect on Earth and home. Coconut and beeswax are the most sustainable candle options. Make sure to opt for candles fragranced with essential oils instead of artificial fragrances or perfumes. Candles make great stand-alone gifts as well as wonderful additions to gift baskets or other goodies!
This is another gift that, if you are DIY savvy, you could make yourself! There a lots of tutorials on how to make your own candles, and with ingredients you could find in your home. Get crafty and reuse those coffee grounds from your morning cup of joe and turn it into a heavenly scented candle.
