Ethically Made Underwear | 10 Sustainable Brands

Along with everyday sustainable basics, underwear is a great place to start cultivating your ethical and sustainable closet. If there is one place in your wardrobe to invest in some quality pieces, it is your intimates drawer. “Why,” you ask? Well, let me tell you.

Just like all of my other clothing, I used to treat my underwear drawer as disposable fast fashion pieces. A reason to go to the mall and splurge more money on another 5 for $60 deal that lasted me a couple of washes and then would tear, shrink, or morph into an unrecognizable ball of frills. You know what I’m talking about – that cute thong you bought with the polka dots that came out of the dryer stuck to your socks and no longers looks cute, stylish, or comfortable!

Investing in quality materials and craftsmanship for your underwear is not only the smarter choice for your wallet, but it is also a form of self care. I know that sounds weird, but underwear is something you wear every day, ALL day! It is what you wear closest to your body. Building a drawer full of underwear made with quality, good-for-you fabrics that are ethically made is the perfect first step to take into creating your sustainable closet.

There are five women’s styles and four men’s styles. Their color selection consists of 2-3 colors per style. Their women’s sizing ranges from XS-2XL and their men’s range from S-3XL. I would say they run small. I am a size 6 and ordered a medium in the thong, hipster, and bikini. The bikini was too small and I had to return them. The thong and hipster are wearable but a bit snug, but keep in mind that the fabric does relax throughout the day.
